SPON DIOGO
in style, by Shawden Sheabar, August 6th, 2010Spon Diogo’s rudimentary predator and prey relation, catch or be caught

She’s a predatory black jaguar on the prowl. With speed, agility, elegance, and prowess she ensnares her captives with powerful demure. It’s survival of the fittest and only the strongest will lead the next evolution.

For A/W 2010, Mia Lisa Spon and Rui Andersen Rodrigues Diogo, the duo behind Copenhagen-based label Spon Diogo, looked to the concept of biomimicry for inspiration. It is the idea that we as the human-race emulate our ecological surroundings and are living simulations of our environment.

Just as the crescent white of the moon shines on the creatures of the night, the collection is very much based on the experimentation with chiaroscuro effects and the play of light against dark. The morphological aspects remain heavily attuned to material selection, tailoring, simplicity, and construction.
