“The theatre has become a dominant motif in my most recent work. I consider the theatre as a mathematical formula. This model is based upon the theatre as representing a whole in which its parts have varying values that are in constant motion, continually shifting, setting up scenes, performing and then moving onwards again. This idea has led me to consider my practice as a play that writes itself.”
Stuart Bailes was awarded the Fujifilm Distinction Awards, 2008, The Reginald Salisbury Travel Scholarship, 2007, and MPD Graduate Future Partnership Award, Portfolio Award, 2007. He has exhibited at numerous spaces including the Photographer’s Gallery, London, and at the PhotoEspana, Descubrimientos PHE08, Madrid, Spain.
